Project Overview

We provide ongoing, scheduled maintenance and support for APA Group’s Murraylink facility, a high-voltage network link connecting Victoria and South Australia. The Murraylink service is a vital part of the National Electricity Market (NEM), delivering 220 megawatts of power between the two states. The transmission line spans approximately 176 kilometers and includes converter stations at Red Cliffs (Victoria) and Berri (South Australia). As part of our services, we conduct routine maintenance, fault finding, equipment replacement, and emergency support to ensure the continuous, reliable operation of the system.

Scope Details

    1. Fault Finding & Troubleshooting:

    • Perform fault finding and diagnostics on the underground cabling and other key electrical components to identify and resolve electrical issues quickly.

    • Troubleshoot and resolve system issues to minimize downtime and maintain efficient operation.

    1. Scheduled Site Checks & Inspections:

    • Regular site checks at both Red Cliffs and Berri converter stations to monitor the overall condition of the Murraylink HVDC transmission system.

    • Conduct routine inspections of electrical equipment, transformers, and other components to ensure everything is functioning optimally.

    1. High Voltage Switching:

    • Carry out high voltage switching tasks as required, ensuring safety and proper operational procedure in managing the power flow between the two states.

    • Work in coordination with APA Group’s operations team to manage power distribution safely.

    1. On-Call Support & Emergency Response:

    • Provide on-call services for immediate troubleshooting, repairs, and urgent issues.

    • Offer emergency response services to quickly address any faults or issues that could disrupt the service.

    1. Site Shut-Downs & Electrical Works:

    • Manage and execute planned site shut-downs, including conducting necessary maintenance, repairs, or inspections during these periods.

    • Perform electrical equipment replacements and repairs during site shut-downs, ensuring the continued stability and performance of the HVDC system.

    • Ensure that all shut-down procedures follow strict safety and operational guidelines to minimize any disruptions.

    1. Scheduled Maintenance & Testing:

    • Conduct regular scheduled maintenance, including test and tag of electrical equipment to ensure all systems meet safety standards.

    • Perform emergency and exit light testing to ensure compliance with safety regulations and proper functioning during emergencies.

    • Carry out RCD testing to ensure electrical safety for staff and equipment.

    1. On-Site Repairs & Installation:

    • Provide on-site repairs and maintenance of electrical systems, including the installation of new and replacement electrical equipment.

    • Ensure all new installations meet operational and safety standards and are integrated into the existing systems seamlessly.

    1. Compliance:

    • Ensure all work complies with relevant industry standards, safety regulations, and APA Group’s internal procedures.

Deliverables

  • Ongoing scheduled maintenance and fault-finding services.
  • Test and tag of electrical equipment, as well as emergency and exit light testing and RCD testing.
  • Electrical equipment replacements and repairs carried out during site shut-downs.
